The partnership we have with the LWML should gladden our hearts. They truly serve the Lord with gladness and they repond to the words of Luther in the explanation to the 3rd Commandment ……“We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it.”
Did you hear that? We come to church, we sing the hymns, we follow the flow of the liturgy, listen, because we hold the Word of God to be a sacred thing, and we gladly hear and learn it. Not just once or twice a year, but every week. In doing so, we are keeping that third commandment; we are keeping the Sabbath holy. We are hearing God’s Word of what He has accomplished for our salvation and can only rejoice in gladness. That gladness then reponds by serving the lord and how is this done? Luther said “What is it to serve God and to do His will? Nothing else than to show mercy to our neighbour. For it is our own neighbour who needs our service; God in heaven needs it not”. And to do it gladly is a gift.
Thanks to our partners in Christ the LWML. If you haven’t celenbrated LWML Sunday last week, do it this week. You will be glad you did.
