Those are the words from Ecclesiastes 1 and after the events in Boston they seemed strangely apropos. There is something truly chaotic about our life together these days.
In a world that truly seems unhinged there is a steady operation that seems to go on and never falter. If it seems to be lacking one year it makes up for it the next. That seems like a pretty big statement and it is. The LWML as long as I can remember has been collecting their “mites” – boxes that are filled with change that are turned in at the unit meetings and sent to national and districts for grants to various mission projects This was announced this week.
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is pleased to announce that the 2011-2013 Mission Goal of $1.825 million was met and has been surpassed. With all praise and thanksgiving to God, the total amount received through faithful mite donations as of this writing is $1,834,269.27.
LWML President Kay Kreklau shared: Our Lord continues to bless the LWML through each of you and your mite offerings! To Him be all thanks and praise as the LWML exceeds their $1.825 million goal for the 2011-2013 biennium! The LWML will fund all 19 grants chosen by the voters at the Peoria Convention in 2011 as the monies are requested. Your offerings have enabled the LWML to continue to reach out and share about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to those who are hurting and lost around the world. A new slate of mission grants will be chosen at the 35th Biennial LWML Convention this June in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
