This is the Uhuru Highway Lutheran Church in Niarobi Kenya. It has a special place in my heart because I was honored to be the preacher at the dedication of this church to be the Cathedral for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya in 2005. I preached on “from the rising of the sun to it’s setting the name of the Lord is to be praised” and how wherever we go in the world, whether we are awake or asleep; there are always Christians somewhere who are offering praise to Goe because of the sacrifice of Christ that binds us together.
In 2007 I took Bob Wurl and others along on a trip to Kenya and these laymen started Project 24. Project 24 rescue centers for Orphans are now official projects of the Minnesota North District and the North Dakota District of the LCMS. Now imagine my surprize when I get an email from Bob Wurl saying this…………………

Dr Schulz and I attended Divine Service at the Lutheran Cathedral in Nairobi, the service was in English. I was given the honor of preaching. (Surprise) The service lasted 2.5 hrs. had a baptism, confirmation, Holy Communion special choirs and various dignitaries receive recognition at the service. I hope to have pictures later.
This afternoon we had the honor of dining at Bishop Obare’s home. There was much stimulating conversation on the developing African and European Church bodies and the difficulties they are encountering as a confessional Churches. God has truly used this man to accomplish many marvelous things in His Church.
