When I received the call to Grafton and Drayton in 1978 Charles Lambrecht was the President of Zion congregation and he was in Sweden with his wife at my ordination. He sent a nice letter welcoming me and when he came home we developed a great relationship. Always helpful and supportive, Charles and his wife Lisa would become stalwarts that bolstered me and supported the church.
Lisa was something of a force of nature who taught me about “mission societies” which I would learn about again 20 years later in the mission field. Her favorite hymn was “Children of the Heavenly Father” and she was well grounded in the Lutheran heritage and what it meant to live “by faith”. She died while I was in the Dominican Republic. She will be missed.
Lisa D. Lambrecht, age 96 of Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks.
Lisa D. Anderson was born May 22, 1917 in Rock Township of Benson County, ND to Emil and Annie Anderson. She attended rural Plainview School and graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1936. She graduated from Jamestown College in 1938 with a teaching certificate. Following her education, she taught elementary school at Plainview District; Tokio, ND; Oberon, ND; New Rockford and Sheyenne, ND. Lisa was united in marriage to Charles Lambrecht on August 7, 1949 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sheyenne. The couple lived in New Rockford until 1955 when they moved to Grafton and purchased the Coast to Coast Hardware Store. The couple owned and operated the store until retiring in 1983. Charles passed away on February 4, 2005. In 2007, Lisa moved to Grand Forks and in 2008, she moved to Valley Eldercare Center where she has lived since.
In retirement, Lisa and Chuck enjoyed travel, especially trips to visit Lisa’s family in Sweden.
Lisa was a member of Zion English Lutheran Church of Grafton. She provided an example of strong faith and was active with the LWML and church choir. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. Lisa was devoted to her grandchildren and treasured her time with them. Lisa was an excellent Bridge player and enjoyed friendships in Bridge and Birthday Clubs.
She is survived by her son Mark (Vickie) Lambrecht, Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren: Tom (Kayla), Minot, ND; Jennifer and Brian, both of Fargo, ND; and her brother, Glen (Vivian) Anderson, Bemidji, MN. Four nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Carl and sister Astrid.
