Some call the Gospels the story of the teaching of Jesus. Some call them biographies of Christ. Some call then the “good news about Jesus”. Some one called them Passion stories with a preface. Everything about the Gospel points to the cross where Jesus would die for the sins of the whole world. His teaching and discourses point to the cross. His private conversation with disciples point to the cross. Martin Franzmann wrote, “The life story of the one that was the Life of Men is a story of a life given into a willed and foreseen death for men and their salvation”.
On this Sunday of the Passion it would do us well to remember the Gospel writers were men who found “grace to pen, The Life which was the life of Men”
