We believe that we live in this life now by faith in Christ and we are here to witness to Him in word and deed. We believe that we also view everything that we suffer, all the problems and tribulations in light of our belief in the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. So everything that happens is filtered through the lens of a new life in Christ in His Kingdom that has no end.
A Lutheran Pastor serving a congregation in Stuttgart, Germany, had gathered his people together after the church had been heavily damaged by Allied bombing. In his sermon he was talking about the hope we have in the life to come and the promises that God gives of a robe and crown to those who endure to the end. During the sermon the air raid sirens began to howl and the Pastor said, “He who can endure to the end can endure the next few minutes.”
Easy for him to say. He never had the 11 o’clock communion service running late when the Packers or Vikings started at noon.
