Charles Spurgeon said that “faith is full of inventions”. What he meant by that was those who come to faith especially when they perceive their need will do all kinds of things to get to Christ. He uses the story of the paralyzed man whose friends tore the roof off of a house to get him into the presence of Christ.
The world has all kinds of inventions to keep us away from Him. You have to look at your life to see what they are but they are all around and they are getting more and more numerous and powerful. The worlds genius serves the purpose of human desire.
If hunger for bread can break through stone walls, surely hunger for souls is not to
be hindered in its efforts. O Lord, make us quick to suggest methods of reaching thy
poor sin-sick ones, and bold to carry them out at all hazards. – Charles Spurgeon
