There is an interesting conversation that takes place among mission folks concerning what to call the enterprise. Prosthetics is a word that means to add onto a body. It appears in Acts where Luke says that the Holy Spirit added members to the body of Christ. Sometimes we forget that it is the Sprit who calls and gathers and ” adds on new members”.
We can plan and work and cajole and whine. We can workshop and convocate and convene and resolve. But church growth is the work of the Holy Spirit who calls and gathers and enlightens and sanctifies, “where and when He wills”.
