On Sunday October 28th we had a “Reformation, Mission and Mercy” celebration. There were two worship services at Zion English in Grafton ND 1100 Hill Av. One of the Preachers was the Rev. Don Fondow.
Rev. Dr. Donald J. Fondow graduated from Concordia High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1971. After attending Concordia Junior College in Milwaukee (A.A. 1973), he received the Bachelor of Arts Degree from Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1975. His seminary training was at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri (M. Div. 1979). He served his vicarage at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Richmond, Virginia (1977-1978).
Upon graduation from the Seminary he received a Divine Call from St. John in Park Rapids, Minnesota, where he served from July 1979 to November 2000. Rev. Fondow accepted a Call to serve as Mission and Ministry Facilitator (Division of Missions and Congregational Outreach) in the Minnesota North District in October 2000. In April of 2003, he was elected as President of The Minnesota North District of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and re-elected in 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2018.
Fondow will be preached on Isaiah 55:10-11 – 10As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
“It”, that word from our mighty creative and active God NEVER fails. We may, but His Word cannot fail. It was great service and a great day.
