We got to see a lot of walls being built in Kenya. We saw the work at Womba and Rongo and Gesonso and Ukunda and the repairs being done at Kisumu, (see 2011/11/10 – It’s Africa Man). Just looking at the scaffolding makes me a little queasy but I don’t have to crawl on them.
The Bible is full of references to God building up the walls. One of my favorites is Ezekiel 22 “I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none”. Of course the analogy of faith tells us that Jesus is the man that stands in the gap and builds up the walls of righteousness for us.
The Bible talks about tearing down walls too – Ezekiel 13 says, “I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the LORD”.
And of course the Walls of Jericho came tumbling down by the strength of the Lord. I heard so meany people say that they lived day to day by the strength of the Lord. Here is my feeble offering of the Walls of Jericho…………..
