The source of the Giertz quote from a few days ago is the book “Christ’s Church,” which is the English translation of Giertz’s Swedish original, “Kristi Kyrka.” In the English, it’s in chapter 8, on page 117. Thank you to Pastor Charles Henrickson who currently serves at St Matthew Lutheran Church in Bonne Terre MO. He is a 1990 graduate (M.Div.) of Concordia Seminary-St. Louis, where he also received an S.T.M. in Exegetical Theology (Old Testament concentration) and is “All But Dissertation” on a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (New Testament concentration). He is also a hymn writer.
I also got some feedback from others who reminded me that South Trinity Lutheran in Walsh County has that type of Altar rail and sure enough.
