I visit people every day who are so busy doing things that they can’t come to church. Especially this time of the year people get so wrapped up in doing stuff that they forget about worship. Luther says that we, if we are Christians, basically have two things to do in life. Both of those things we are strengthened and gifted to do and to have in Church. We pray in the prayer after communion that God would strengthen our faith in Him and our love for one another.
“These are the two things in which a Christian is to exercise himself, the one that he draws Christ into himself, and that by faith he makes him his own, appropriates to himself the treasures of Christ and confidently builds upon them; the other that he condescends to his neighbor and lets him share in that which he has received, even as he shares in the treasures of Christ.” Martin Luther
