Greg Williamson is the new Chief Mission Officer for the LCMS and I was to meet him at the Board meeting last week. My flight out of Fargo ws canceled and I could not get to that meeting. I called him and introduced myself since we will be working together. The CMO position was created by the restructuring plan and adopted by the July 2010 Synod Convention. Staff, supervised by boards and commissions under the former structure, will now report to a chief mission officer (CMO) who is responsible to the LCMS president. The new structure has five units in all, supervised by the CMO at the direction of the president. The units are Office of International Mission, Office of National Mission, Communications, Fund Development and Pastoral Education. The Board for International Missions develops policies with the President and his office that the CMO will work with.
Anyway we look at connections on this blog and in the course of our discussion I found out that Rev. Williamson spent a lot of time in Fergus Falls MN and has a brother working in the oil fields by Williston ND. It is a small world.
