Evidently the President of the United States had a meeting with some Pastors and friends and at the meeting they actually prayed over him and with him. Of course the press went crazy over such “odd” behavior. They went a little crazy when they found out that the agricultural Secretary once prayed for rain as well, and never bothered to report that the drought stricken area for which he prayed received rain the next day. It probably goes without saying that the so called press are once again out of contact with most Americans, but we will say it anyway. I think it actually goes beyond that. It seems when we dig a bit deeper, the press and the so called establishment despise the so called average American. The “basket of deplorables” remark was the tip of the iceberg and the remarks that came from the Podesta emails show a remarkable detestation of what most of the country used to call normal. Unless you believe that the Russians somehow hypnotized certain people to make fun of the faith of millions and detest their grip on Bibles and guns we have to assume that their private emails revealed their private thoughts.
So prayer is odd, strange, weird and some would say silly. Although we seem to be at a point where the hopes of many are coming true that America is no longer a Christian country, you better watch out if you think prayer is odd. It is foundational for Muslims and Jews as well. About 16% of Christians go to church on any given Sunday, but 8 out of 10 people in this country pray everyday. It might be time to examine what is really odd in this country. Maybe there are those among us who do not want us to lead quiet and tranquil lives.
1 Timothy 2 –
1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men 2for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.…
