I knew a lady that had two sons that she called her little angels and everyone else called them little devils, They were also called hellions which a great word too. Probably comes from the word hallion which just meant a bad guy but then the “a” switched to an “e” and gave it a kick.
There are many Bible allusions to hell and damnation and people who are ‘little devils”. The end of the world is supposed to be preceded by one who is the supreme hellion. In 2 Thesssalonians we get this – “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;”. He gets the name “anti- Christ” and it is an interesting image that runs parallel to the Good News of God’s Mercy and is an evil faking of or attempt to be like God and assume his place.
Judas Iscariot was called the son of perdition as well. Some Bible scholars were said to be of their father “the devil” which makes them sons of perdition too.
I have a reason for writing this and will get to it tomorrow.
