I have been talking about the way LWML mites are active around the world and how the North Dakota and Minnesota North District of the LWML have affected mercy work in so many places it is hard to count. Now multiply those two Districts by the number of LWML Districts in the US. There are 40 of them and they all meet in convention this year. Some have had conventions and some are having them right now.
The Eastern District of the LWML meets in convention starting tomorrow. A portion of Psalm 25 is their theme. “Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. ”
A young man named Cody Norton wrote a Lenten devotional on this psalm which appears from Fort Wayne Seminary and was meant to be used during Lent 2016. He says something interesting. “It is a prayer pleading for God’s instruction in the way righteousness. It is a song of praise, which acknowledges the faithfulness and strength of God. And it is a prayer which pleads for God’s intervention to protect us from our adversaries. Above all of these things, it is a prayer for mercy. For God to do what God loves to
do. A prayer for the forgiveness of sins, for the putting away of trespasses. More than anything else, we Christians are forgiveness of sins people.”
What a great theme for the Atlantic District. Those ladies are “forgiveness of sins people”. Through their mites they help the forgiveness of sins be preached through out the world just as Jesus wanted and commanded.
